This time around for the Looking Back series, we have a visit to the Magic Kingdom in April 2004. As with the 2003 trip, I took lots of photos with my digital camera, freed from the confines of film photography. It was difficult to come up with just a few to share, and if I were to go through them again, I might choose entirely different photos. But here is just a sample of what I took on that trip.
For this episode of Looking Back at Disney, we jump forward in time from the previous posts of October 1996 all the way to July 2003, starting with a visit to the Magic Kingdom. This was a “land and sea” vacation, which combined a Walt Disney World visit with a Disney Cruise, which would be our first cruise. And it was all in honor of our 10th wedding anniversary!
Also, this was the first trip where I had a digital camera.
Although we had just been to Walt Disney World in June 1996, Laura and I returned to Florida in October 1996 for another visit. There were several reasons for this trip, but one of them was because Walt Disney World began celebrating its 25th anniversary on October 1, 1996. That seems like a long time ago now that they have already had the 50th anniversary, doesn’t it? Here are some photos from the Magic Kingdom during that trip.
Laura and I took a trip to Walt Disney World in June 1996. We actually visited the Magic Kingdom on two separate days during our trip (Remember back when there were only 3 parks? Or even further back when there were only 2 parks? Or only one park? Okay, so the one park days were before my time.). During our visits, we had some sun and some rain, just what you would expect from Central Florida weather.
Time for another Looking Back adventure, this time around from the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in August of 1995. Hard to believe that was now 20 years ago! Let’s take a look around and see what we can see.
Welcome to the Magic Kingdom! You know the old saying that you can’t see the forest for the trees? Well here, you almost can’t see Cinderella Castle for all of the trees in the Central Plaza (also known as the Hub).
The Looking Back series returns with a look at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World from 20 years ago, with these photos from April 1995. I was there as a chaperon on a high school band trip, enjoying the lighter crowds and slightly cooler weather. New Tomorrowland was still new, and lots of other things were happening all over the park. Let’s take a look!
Welcome to the Magic Kingdom, as we arrive by ferryboat across Seven Seas Lagoon.
Time once again for another Looking Back post, this time taking a look at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in 1992. There were several new things that year, with some others on the way. Let’s take a look!
Welcome to the Magic Kingdom! As you can see, Main Street Stationis all decorated for Walt Disney World’s 20th Anniversary Celebration. And hidden back behind those candles is the Walt Disney World Railroad’s Engine No.
Time once again to Look Back, this time at the Magic Kingdom from the summer of 1990.
First up is this view of Main Street USA and Cinderella Castle. At first glance, there isn’t much special or different about this view, until you notice the large trees in the Central Plaza in front of Cinderella Castle. And you can’t really tell from this view, but there isn’t a Partners Statue there yet, either.
The Looking Back series returns with a look at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in 1989. Actually, these photos come from two different trips - one in April and one in July of 1989, in case you are wondering. Here is a look back at the old days:
Nothing like the view down Main Street USA! It hasn’t changed all that much. Or has it? These days, the trees in both Town Square and the Central Plaza (or Hub) are much smaller than they used to be.
This installment of Looking Back takes a look at the Magic Kingdom from July 1988. From comparing these to the 1987 photos, my photography had improved just a bit. And in 1988, there was a big new addition to the Magic Kingdom - Mickey’s Birthdayland.
You can’t get this view of Cinderella Castle any more, unless you have a crane. This was taken from the Skyway as it went over Fantasyland.
